Straight to Video
Now you can share your Flickr videos on your Vox blog!
A few weeks ago, Flickr announced that pro members are now able to share videos of up to 90 seconds in their photostream. Many of you already post photos to your Vox blog directly from your Flickr account, and now we’ve made it so you can do the same with your Flickr videos.
To post a Flickr video to your Vox blog, just follow the same steps you would if you were posting a Flickr photo. (Yes, that means you’ll find your Flickr videos in “Photos,” not “Videos.”)
Not using Flickr to add photos to Vox? Find out how to connect your Flickr account to your Vox account. Plus, using Flickr means you’ll never have to upload a photo twice, or waste valuable storage space!
Around the World with Vox and CupCate
A little over a year ago, we announced that CupCate was one of the Grand Prize winners of the Vox World Tour. A month ago, Cate and her husband, Iain, packed their bags and flew to San Francisco, the first stop of a three-cities-in-fourteen-days vacation.
While they were in SF, Team Vox was lucky enough to have a yummy lunch with Cate and Iain and some of us even made it out for a late night karaoke session at The Mint.
We were also happy to hear, however, that she took some time to enjoy a glass of wine, a roaring fire, and the luxury of utter relaxation.
Then it was off to Tokyo where she saw gorgeous cherry blossoms, the Tokyo Tower and the Sensoji Temple, and even got a special tour around Tokyo with Ayako from Six Apart’s Japan office!
And it wouldn't be a Vox World Tour without Paris in the spring time, decadent French meals, and, of course, the Eiffel Tower.
It sounds like an amazing adventure. Congratulations again to CupCate. We had so much fun with you while you were in SF and we can't wait until your next visit!
Thanks to the planning of Voxer electric firefly, we're really excited to announce a meetup for Bay Area Voxers!
Friday, March 16
7 p.m.
at Brickhouse
426 Brannan St., San Francisco, CA 94107
This meetup is open to anyone who'd like to come. A bunch of us Team Vox members will be there with some other Six Aparters and our lovely Vox World Tour winners Kristen and Cate too!
Please RSVP by commenting to this post if you can make it, so we'll know how big of a box o' Vox goodies we need to bring.
If you're not in San Francisco and you'd like to set up a Vox meetup in your own city, it's simple. I outlined some basic information in this post, and feel free to send me a private message if you're interested in setting one up or if you have any questions.
Have a great weekend everyone!

We are so excited to announce our winners of the Vox World Tour! As we've told you before, the Vox World Tour consists of two Grand Prize trips for two to San Francisco, Paris and Tokyo, the birthplaces of Vox. The first Grand Prize winner was chosen for her touching and eloquent essay, and the second Grand Prize goes to the person who invited her to Vox.
Since the grand prizes of the Vox World Tour are going to be so fun, we decided to have a little fun with telling the good news to our two winners. First Gladys contacted each unsuspecting winner separately via a Vox private message asking them if they'd be willing to take part in a Vox beta tester survey over the phone. Then we dialed Mena in to a conference call which we recorded. After asking our essay winner a few basic questions about Vox, Mena announced the good news. Hear it here!
Congratulations to Kristen and CupCate! Read Kristen's winning essay and stop by their blogs later today to read more about their reactions. You can also help build their trip itineraries by recommending what they should do in each city in the Vox World Tour group.

With the launch of Vox last fall, we announced the Vox World Tour promotion with two (2) Grand Prizes of an all expense paid trip for two to see and experience the three cities where Vox was born: San Francisco, Paris and Tokyo!
The winners are going to be announced this week, so in preparation we've created the Vox World Tour group. Have you ever visited or lived in San Francisco, Paris or Tokyo? If so, join the group and help build the winners' itineraries by sharing some of your photos, posts and videos from those three cities. When the winners are announced, they'll be able to see and read all your recommendations for their trips. And when the winners go on their trips, we'll ask them to share their own photos and videos with the group too.
Tune in later this week for the big announcement!

Vox has become such a huge part of Six Apart that it's hard to believe it wasn't around this time last year! Team Vox wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2006.
Vox has been in development
for more than two years, but its debut beyond the confines of Six Apart HQ came this past June. Code-named Comet, an early
version of the service launched as an invitation-only beta with all
Six Apart employees getting just a few invitations each to invite their friends
and family. Team Vox established an
energetic development schedule, releasing new features, changes and tweaks a
few times a month and paying close attention to user feedback.
Development and testing continued over the summer, and invitations were slowly doled out by the handful. Mena and a few other team members traveled to key cities across the U.S. to hold preview parties and to develop the community beyond the Bay Area. The traveling team also gave a ton of interviews and product demos which resulted in stellar press both pre- and post-launch. Vox was written up in The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, Newsweek, Financial Times and in many more publications.
We also learned early on
that Vox’s clean, simple and colorful design had attracted some very creative users. Inspired by enthusiastic
entries to a Vox coloring contest, we announced the Vox Banner Contest where the Design
Team would choose five user-submitted banners to turn into Vox themes. After
reviewing over 600 entries from the community, the team decided to choose 50
winners and have been releasing their themes throughout the fall.
Vox opened to the public
on the evening of October 25, 2006, and Six Apart celebrated with a fun launch
party on October 26th at Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco. Vox users had something to celebrate when the
Vox World Tour Promotion was announced that same day. By signing up for a Vox account and posting
about their enjoyable experiences on Vox, users are automatically registered to win
an all expenses paid trip to see and experience the three cities where it was
born - San Francisco, Paris, and Tokyo. (There's still time to enter!)
For a service that launched less than two months ago, Vox already has an active community with a vibrant, inviting personality. Vox users, or Voxers as we call them, have taken the concept of friends and neighbors very seriously, forming strong bonds with the other Voxers in their Neighborhoods. Voxers have begun to put together meetups of their own, gathering in San Diego, Boston, Long Beach and London, with more planned for next year.
It has been an exciting and rewarding year getting Vox off the ground and we can't wait to see what 2007 brings!
In the meantime, please take a moment to enjoy the Six Apart holiday movie.
Have you heard about our Vox World Tour Promotion yet? To celebrate Vox's launch, we'll award two (2) Grand Prizes of an all expense paid trip for two to see and experience the three cities where Vox was born: San Francisco, Paris and Tokyo!
Here's how to enter:

- Tag it “Vox World Tour” and make sure it’s viewable by the world. The entry must be posted between 10/26/2006 and 12/31/2006. (So if you answered the QotD on 10/25, consider that a starting point! In order for that post to be eligible, you'll need to re-post it so that the posting date is after 10/26 and be sure it's tagged "Vox World Tour".)
