A couple of months ago, we told you about Blog It powered by TypePad, the first cross-platform blogging application for Facebook the enables you to post to your Vox blog - and ALL your blogs - with a single click.
Within a week, Blog It had nearly 4,000 active users posting tweets and creating blog posts, as well as updating their status messages with the title and link to the published post. Today, Blog It's Facebook application has nearly 10,000 users. But here's the thing: You're not always sitting in front of the computer when the inspiration to blog strikes. And at Six Apart, it is our goal to provide you the tools you need need to blog where you want, and when you want.
Which is why this week we introduced Blog It for iPhone, a free web application just like the one we introduced for Facebook - only now - on your iPhone. Built specifically for iPhone's Safari browser, Blog It for iPhone enables you to post blog entries or status updates from wherever you are to more than a dozen different online services. And just like the original Facebook version, you can choose to share your posts with the people you know across various social networks.
To start blogging with Blog It for iPhone, go to http://blogit.typepad.com with your iPhone's Safari browser and install the Blog It icon onto your mobile desktop. Then, all you have to do is click the Blog It icon and start creating posts!
Whether you're riding the bus to work, cheering on your team courtside, or enjoying a picnic by the lake, now it's easier than ever to Blog It.
We've been up to some pretty amazing stuff at Six Apart, and our latest launch is one of the most exciting yet. Yesterday, Six Apart announced we are adding a host of social media services for paying customers, including helping customers monetize their blogs, design and template assistance, and helping VIP bloggers build their audience and visibility.
As anyone who surfs the web knows, blogging has erupted into a mainstream communications technology, and at Six Apart we want to provide our customers with everything they need to ensure their blog is a success. This means offering complete solutions and services that complement the outstanding technology on which we pride ourselves.
You're probably wondering what this means for Voxers. Since Vox is a free, advertising-supported service, the program isn't available on Vox. However, if you've ever thought about starting a blog on which you could potentially make money, now is definitely the time! Find out more about how to sign up for a TypePad account and take part in our advertising program tailor made for bloggers. And since you can cross-post directly from Vox to TypePad, you can keep your Vox blog (and all of your neighbors), and still participate in the program!
Six Apart is a company full of bloggers who are passionate about making blogging better for everyone, which puts us in a unique, and pretty cool position to actually dig in and do so. Think you'd like to work at a place like this? You're in luck. We're now hiring in New York City and San Francisco.
Ever stop to think about how many places on the web you post about your life? For many of us, we're posting on multiple blogs, as well as Facebook, Twitter and Pownce. That's a lot of time spent just to make sure all of our friends and family across the web are caught up on our lives. And while it's incredibly important to stay connected to everyone, at Six Apart, we don't think it should be quite so complicated to do so. That is why we've taken another step in our ongoing effort to create better tools for bloggers, no matter what publishing platforms you use.
We are excited to announce that today, Six Apart launched the first cross-platform blogging application for Facebook -- Blog It powered by TypePad. Blog It brings some of the best social networking aspects of Facebook to blogging, making it easy to blog or micro-blog from within Facebook. It doesn't matter if you blog using Vox, TypePad, Movable Type, LiveJournal, Blogger, Tumblr, WordPress.com or WordPress.org, or micro-blog using Twitter, Pownce or your Facebook status... Now you can update everything and everyone via one easy-to-create post on Facebook.
Plus, after you've posted using Blog It, you can choose to automatically share your post via Twitter and Pownce, in addition to the Facebook news feed. While a lot of other Facebook applications rely solely on the news feed to share your activity, Blog It is unique in that it helps you notify everyone you know across the web about what you're creating -- not just your Facebook friends.
Ready to try it out? Just add the Blog It application on Facebook and take a minute to add all your accounts. From there, you can create new blog posts and share them with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and Pownce, all just by ticking a few extra boxes. Watch this screencast to preview how Blog It works.

Now what are you waiting for? Go Blog It!
At Six Apart (the makers of Vox), we'll use any excuse we can to mix business and pleasure. It's not that hard since we love what we do, but we were thinking since the BlogHer Business '08 Conference is just around the corner, that's the perfect excuse to hang out with any fellow Voxers who might be in attendance. We'd love to take the opportunity to get to know you, buy you a cup of coffee, and talk about what really matters to us: YOU and your blog.
Are you planning on attending the BlogHer Business '08 Conference? If so, please let us know in the comments, so we can get an idea of how many of you will be there. We'll follow-up with another post before the conference letting you know where we're going to be and when.
Hope to see you in NYC!
Later this week, the South by Southwest Interactive, Film and Music Festival kicks off in Austin, Texas, for ten days of conference and festival activities. We have two different ways for Voxers to get involved.
KICK! at SXSWi
KICK! is a fun, free playground-style kickball game that is a great way for you to meet and mix with attendees of the Interactive festival and other bloggers who use Movable Type, TypePad and Vox. Here's what you need to know:
- When: Saturday, March 8th at 10:30am
- Where: Palm Park, behind the Austin Convention Center
- Who: Everyone's invited! It helps if you're a geek or a blogger
- What: Kickball. A simple game, tons of fun, and nobody gets picked last
- How: Just show up with some shoes you can run in, and we'll handle the rest
Six years ago, KICK! was started as a way to welcome the community of early bloggers that had just begun to adopt SXSWi as an informal annual homecoming. Join the tradition by coming out to play some ball or just drink some Progress coffee and eat some breakfast tacos.
If you plan on joining us, please RSVP on KICK!'s Upcoming page.
KCRW & SXSW Music
KCRW's original music programming, including Morning Becomes Eclectic, is renowned for championing cutting edge music. During SXSW, they're presenting an official showcase featuring Jesca Hoop, Division Day, The Duke Spirit and more, as well as broadcasting MBE live from Austin.
Expect a flurry of news, updates, photos, audio and video when the Music Festival starts on the KCRW at SXSW Vox blog. Add them as a friend now so you don't miss out on any of the exclusive material beginning March 12th.

In what has become a yearly tradition, Six Apart (Vox's parent company), held a Halloween costume contest yesterday. And just like last year, everyone got in on the fun, including kids and office dogs.
There were a lot of entries into to the contest, but there were only four prizes. Here are this year's winners:
And then the fun broke out, with characters putting their powers to the test, some Guitar Hero in the main conference room, and even an impromptu petting zoo:
As you can see, we fully understand the concept of "work hard, play hard".
As you're uploading photos of your own costumes to Vox, don't forget to enter the First Annual Vox Smilebox Halloween Costume Contest. Just personalize a Halloween-themed Vox Smilebox with photos and videos of your "most original" costume, post it to your Vox and tag your post "halloween contest". You could win a Canon PowerShot SD750 Digital Elph Camera!
To make things easier, we've extended the contest deadline to November 8, 2007, at 12:59 p.m. PST, so you have another week to upload your entry. Read all the details, including easy instructions on how to post a Vox Smilebox, and be sure to check out the official rules before you enter.
We hope your Halloween was as happy as ours was!
Six Apart, Vox's parent company, has been celebrating a number of birthdays and anniversaries recently. TypePad turned four years old on Saturday, October 6th, Movable Type celebrated its six year anniversary two days after that, and the first anniversary of Vox's official launch is coming up next week!
Now there's an even more exciting birthday that we’re delighted to announce. Whenever Six Apart launches a new product, we often hear it described as “Ben and Mena’s baby”, referring to Six Apart's cofounders Ben and Mena Trott, but this time the phrase is actually true. Created, designed, developed and launched entirely by Ben and Mena is a new arrival: Penelope Frances Trott, born early in the morning on October 10th. Please join in our squees and coos by leaving a comment on Mena's birth announcement.
Baby, Mom, and Dad are all doing fine, though they’re a little too tired to do much blogging themselves, and even their dog Maddy is willing to make room in the family photo.
Congratulations, Trott family!

For his exemplary service and contributions, Steve is the recipient of this commemorative Employee of the Month mug*.
Congratulations Steve! You're the best!

*Steve may or may not have bought and designed this mug himself, then ordered it through Qoop.
Back in March of 2006, Six Apart (Vox's parent company) acquired Splashblog, a mobile photo blogging application and service that allows users to instantly publish photos from a camera phone to a blog. Members of the Splashblog team became members of the Six Apart Mobile Team, working on all four services: Movable Type, TypePad, LiveJournal and Vox. The acquisition demonstrated 6A's commitment to bringing the latest developments in mobile technologies to all of our users.
It has just been announced that the Splashblog service will be terminated on September 10, 2007. Splashblog designed an easy way for their users to save all of their published content, and then they encouraged the Splashblog community to come join Vox and share their photos here. Read all about it in Splashblog's announcement.
Over the next few weeks, we look forward to seeing Splashblog users become part of the Vox community. Please join us in welcoming them, and of course it's always nice to extend a welcome comment or leave a [this is good] on a new photo too. If you are interested in learning more about how to publish to Vox from your own mobile phone or device, read the Using Vox Mobile article in our knowledge base.
