Vox Tip: Sending Invitations
In our last release notes, we announced the new and improved Bulk Invite feature. Now you can send a Vox account invitation to up to three people all at once!
When you're using the new invitation page, you can now also suggest a photo for each person to use, suggest other people to add to their Vox neighborhood and also add a personalized message.
Every new Vox account will start with five invitations to give out to friends, family and associates. Don't be afraid to use up your invitations; as soon as you run out, we'll replenish them quickly. If you're hoarding a few invitations, here are some ideas of how to use them:
- Invite your mom and dad to get an account, then prove that you can indeed take care of a pet by posting photos of your cat - alive.
- Get your poker group, Bridge club or Scrabble nemesis to answer today's QotD.
- Start a book club or running group and keep track of your comments and progress on Vox.
- Don't wait for reunions to exchange stories with old classmates.
- Think local: make your Vox neighborhood resemble your real one by inviting your next-door neighbors.
- Let some more lucky friends in on some of your brilliant friends-only posts.
So you see, the more the merrier. What are some other reasons you've invited or are going to invite people to Vox? Share them with us in the comments.

I can Vlog, Podcast, incorporate Flickr ... a bunch of powerful "amenities" if you will ...
I can keep up with all my crazy friends easily ...
the design and function is simple but very powerful, easily navigated as well.
All in all, I don't need to be a Big Dog blog to run with the pack. And right now, most of the pack is on VOX or are headed this way.
I sent one to my wife. She refused. :-/
I like the ideas on how to get more people we know to join vox... I just hope my dad will actually get on. I've invited a lot of people so far. I've got some people here... I am hoping to convert a lot of people from Xanga to come here. I was hoping you could check out their posting tools and try to implement a few of those features here, but I love your interface and usability much more.
Love it! I'm trying to get more family members to join. It'd be wonderful if we could all keep in touch this way instead of calling on the phone since I hate talking on the phone!
--Contact the person before inviting--
Sell them on the privacy features and the fact that "you don't have to blog, but you need an account to see what I am posting."
Now, to Vox:
Are you planning on adding additional custom groups?
Take what you said in this post one step farther; make it where you have the ability to post just for you:
poker groupBridge club or Scrabble clubbook club
running group
School group
etc
I am currently maintaing my lj alongside my vox.
I have been offering invites to 'friends' on there and seeing who wants one. I so far have invited 8 people who have all taken up the offer.
Its all good.
It is probably not what Vox wants to have happen, but it can work for the short term.
Hi,
Is there a way to cross-check your address book and import a .csv file to see who already are here on VOX? Further, to use the same contact catalog uploaded on VOX to more easily pick invites of the nonVOXers?
Peace,
Anders
(beta inviteee joining July with an idle account, but activating myself yesterday... =) oh yeah!)
