Vox Tip: OMG Spoilerz

Comments

LOL! (the "spoiler" info, I mean) ::looks around:: Am I the first comment? wow. cool.

anyway, that's neat - I don't know HTML - am definitely going to start learning about it though!
thanks, SteveVox!

but I know what movie you saw...... and I think you found your special purpose! :)
(enlightening VOXers, of course!)
I'm going to invent a device like that!!!
HAHA! That's from The Jerk
Hahha that's fabulous
awesome, this is exactly what i was looking for!
[waves wand] Occultus Lacuna!
I love that movie.
The second half sounds like The Jerk...oh, someone beat me to it :)

Oh man, I just had to comment... This post made me laugh, and I don't even read the HP books. xD
i'm sorry but this code is kind of crappy. most communities have a built-it in like a quote-code.

You've made my day! The spoiler is LOL!

Fantastic feature and even better movie (The Jerk).

That's cool! So many functional features this vox!

This is great, but, wouldn't it be easier to add a tag or button in the compose window, so that, similar to how the blockquote, strike trough and others work, allowed you to select a line or paragraph and mark it as spoiler, thus making it it match the font color to the background color, or something like that? Don't know if it's technically possible on Vox, but to me that would be easier, and didn't need to copy/paste the snippet above all the time.
Why are you encouraging the use of the "font" tag? Just have them add the color attribute to the DIV's inline style. Less mark up and more valid.

I have to say that this is a funny post, but sort of a waste. Someone who is posting spoilers is usually doing so to push someones buttons or just being sort of a jerk. I highly doubt they would be considerate enough to use this method to "protect" those who don't wish to see it.
The code doesn't seem to work for me and I'm copy/pasting it from this entry.

I'm picking out a thermos for you. and maybe a barometer, too. excellent tips, thanks!

excellent spoiler!
@Rose: What's not working for you? What's it doing?

Wow. Thanks for ruining it for me...

Lol, thanks. I've finished the book, but spoilers sicken me in any case.

[this is good]

Cool tip, I didn't know one could do that.

Sounds good to me.

i like this, i wish i'd learnt more than how to bold, italic or underline stuff in HTML now
I have to say this is a start, but it mostly sucks. To use it, you have to guesstimate how wide/tall the spoiler text is (unless they want a big ugly block like the one here), and there's no way to edit the HTML if you guess wrong... you have to delete and start over. Please put a tag or button in the compose window, instead.

And for those who can't hear the word "thermos" without hearing the Thermos Song in their head, I've posted an awesome remix - which will blow your mind!

Um yes .... but still, it has to be "more popular thAn ever". :P
nice tip. but wouldnt it be easier if you just choose the colour of the font to the colour of your background? since yours is white, just put the font colour white?
This is an interesting method of hiding spoilers. You should really talk to the people at LiveJournal about how to make a functional cut-tag (since SixApart owns LJ, too) or maybe look at the "read more" features Wordpress has. One of those would be GREAT for Vox. In fact, that's the only feature missing which would make Vox perfect in my book.
good, but just giving us an 'extended text' option would be cooler!

Kudos - very interesting approach with many other applications. I do agree with r2witco that spoilers are usually written by mean and spiteful people...

smic - There are HTML practice boards all over the 'net. Do a search and test drive a few. Bookmark the one(s) you like the best - you can rest easy that your code looks the way you intend before posting.

(Forgive double post - not sure what happened...)
