Vox Tip: Full Cross-Posting
In our last release, we launched the ability to do full
cross-posting to TypePad and/or LiveJournal. We've had cross-posting
functionality for a while now, but prior to this release we'd only send
an excerpt of the post to TP or LJ. The excerpts only include the first few lines of the post and all the images
and formatting are stripped out. For some people,
that's the exact behavior they want in their cross-posting
functionality. Some of us, on the other hand, wanted the option to completely
replicate our Vox posts to the other site, and that's where the full
cross-posting comes in.
If you enable full cross-posting, your entire post
will be cross-posted to your other blog, with all of the formatting,
pictures and assets intact. The media assets are clickable and linked
back to their originals on Vox, and everything should pretty much look
like it does on your Vox blog.
To enable this feature, you need to reconfigure your other blog - you can't just change the setting. Go to Account, and then click on Outside Services. If you already have another blog configured, then you should see a link under "Your other blog" to reconfigure. Put in your other blog's credentials, authorize, and then check the "Yes, send full post to this blog" box. Save, and you're done. From now on, when you choose to cross-post your Vox entries to your other blog, it will be the full versions instead of excerpts. If you ever decide to go back to excerpts, then just follow this procedure again and don't check the box.
Whichever option you choose will apply to all your posts, so you'll either always cross-post just an excerpt, or always cross-post the full post. Read "Cross-posting from Vox" for more tips and information.-- Steve

Is this something Six Apart is going to fix?
Now for the ungrateful feature begging segment: being able to send the tags along would be fantastic. (As it is, I have to go to Livejournal and edit tags each time.) Of course, in a perfect world, I could somehow link livejournals and have them show up as lj user=... on the livejournal end, but I won't hold my breath, there. :) Tags sure would be nice, though!
Wonderful feature, really.
Yes, I know it's only a peanut butter cup, but I expect the world from it.
It would be nice however, if you guys really did buy Live Journal, if I could add my Live Journal friends to my Vox Neighborhood and my Vox Neighbors to my LIve Journal friends. Then we could all play in one sandbox instead of shoveling sand back and forth between two sandboxes.
(And then when you're done fixing live journal, could you please buy up Five Across and fix the mess they made of NHL Connect? Pleasepleaseplease?
Now when can we cross-post to non-Six Apart blogs? That's what I'm hoping for!
I just think that X-posting Friends-Only posts and automatically turning them to be viewable to Friends/Family here on Vox would be cool. But regardless, you guys are doing a good job. And I love Vox. Whoever came up with the idea to have QotD was also awesome! Thanks!
I love this, being both LJ & Vox user, but sadly it doesn't seem to work for me at the moment - another test later and I shall see.
I love being able to import from LJ to Vox as work has (boo hiss!) blocked access to LJ (too popular?) - currently I rather tortuously post to LJ via e-mail, then often import (badly formatted) posts to Vox, then reformat!

Er, [a] I agree - nice idea but [b] they did!
Six Apart owns Typepad, Movable type, Vox & Live Journal - they are just sepeate services used for different reasons!
I love both :)
It would also be nice to cross post friends and family entries to LJ.
I want to use vox full time, but can't because LJ friends won't come over and play.
Lots of great blogs on Blogspot and people get lazy and don't go to my Vox, haha.
