Vox Tip: Blogging on the go with Vox Mobile
Nearly everyone has a cell phone these days, and most new phones have cameras on them. Want to make your phone even more useful than just a way to get calls and send texts? Set up your phone for mobile posting to Vox and you'll have a way to add to your blog in an instant, from anywhere!
Mobile blogging, or moblogging, is a great way to capture the events in your life as they happen. Say you're walking down the street and see a hilarious sign on the sidewalk. It's too funny to just keep to yourself, so you grab your phone and snap a photo. You may find that when you get home and view your blog, you have a bunch of comments of friends who laughed out loud. And it doesn't have to be just something funny: that ice cream sundae that is almost too pretty to eat (but you plan to anyhow) is a great thing to capture. Just don't get the whipped cream on the phone! Whenever you're enjoying a concert, laughing at a friend's joke, or just enjoying a delicious coffee, commemorate the moment immediately! Now when you look back at your blog, you'll have reminders of some of the little funny moments and great times of your life.
What do you need to be part of this mobile fun? A phone with a camera plus an option on your service plan to use the internet.
- If your phone sends emails, try Moblogging. You can post text along with a photo or other media clip. To get set up, the Account link will take you to a page with your settings and profile information. Click Mobile Setting on the side to see your moblogging options. This page will give you a unique email address you need to use to moblog. It will be a long string of numbers and characters so make sure you enter it correctly. You can set up multiple email addresses with different privacy levels and pre-set tags and you can also set some up to post to groups.
- If you have a Windows Mobile, Series 60 (Nokia), or Palm OS smartphone you can install the Vox Mobile software. There are more specifics about what kinds of phones we support and the download links in Using Vox Mobile. Once you've set up the program, you are ready to go. If you want to get fancy with your settings, access the software, and then go to Options > Prefs to see a variety of ways you can customize. Under Options > Prefs > Camera prefs..., you can set it up so your camera "Prompts to publish" as soon as you snap that photo. Another handy set of preferences live under Options > Prefs > New post prefs... which let you set the default privacy and tags. This makes it nice if you always set your moblogged posts to be visible by your Neighborhood and set the "moblog" tag each time too. Explore these preferences more for other great options.
- Your phone may have come pre-installed with another blogging tool like the Nokia settings or Lifeblog, and those work well with Vox too.
If you haven't tried out moblogging before, today's the day! Get your phone set up and tag your first post as "first moblog" so other people can browse the tag and be inspired too.

I wish I moblogged more, but it costs too much money.

With my Blackberry I've just used the mobile email address which seems to work well.
It would be very cool to have vox mobile on there though, I've seriously thought about getting a nokia just for that feature.
But I like this whole Vox-Thing ver much.
Nice job you Voxters ;)
Treo 650 (Palm), on Verizon, by the way.
It works very well on my T-Mo Dash...with Windows Mobile 6. Great tool gang.
