Vox at TED 2007
Starting today, a few folks from Six Apart are attending the TED conference (TED stands for technology, entertainment and design) in Monterey, California. This is my second year attending. At last year's event, I had the opportunity to speak in front of the TED attendees about blogging, and how it's the personal stories that tend to resonate most strongly with those following blogs. My talk is online for those who want to catch what I had to say.
Giving this speech was a personal and professional highlight for me, both because of the audience I was able to present in front of as well as the stories I was able to tell. In fact, I was just recently reminded of how much of an impact a TED talk can make: the family of Emma Candy, the woman who I spoke about who passed away from cancer after chronicling it in her blog, contacted me to say they had seen my TED talk online and that the mention of Emma was incredibly meaningful to all of them.
The great thing about being able to come back this year is that we have a product -- Vox -- that was really built for the types of stories and life-recording moments I talked about last year. Vox just celebrated its one-year anniversary last week, which makes the timing of TED even more special for us, since personally, these events are very tied together in my mind. In fact, my very first post on my Vox blog happens to be about breaking boards at TED University.
Six Apart is proud to be co-sponsoring TED's Digital Photo Lab experience this year, in which TED attendees can have their photograph taken by renowned photographer Art Streiber and his Hasselblad camera and then uploaded to our TED 2007 Vox blog. The neat thing about this photo project is that just like TED and Vox, it will capture snapshots of people from all sorts of backgrounds and disciplines. We're looking forward to seeing these photographs and sharing them with Vox readers who can't make the event.
Add the TED 2007 Vox blog to your neighborhood so you can see all the photos and updates and they come in.
Here's to a great TED 2007!

I was on MSN Spaces for quite a while and found out about Vox from the TWIT.tv people. I have got to tell you (well you'd know since you created VOX) that VOX is great! I've never posted so much in my life. Reading people's life stories is very interesting and has given me perspective on my own problems and successes.
Keep up the good work!
