You are absolutely correct. I think that everyone is going to kick themselves in the rear for believing in this global warming farse 10 years from now. This was the coldest summer on record. I've used my A/C significantly less this year than the past 3 years. There is no global warming.

Too bad global warming isn't true. This past summer was pretty dang cold, and it's been snowing on and off now. It is only early October! Ridiculous thing to believe that the planet is overheating, in my opinion.

I think it depends on where you are living. If you take on the southern hemisphere, the reaction would probably be different. In Malaysia for example, the temperature is rising and some of the beaches are labelled as 'dangerous' to public due to the rising sea level. Small islands like Singapore, Indonesia and the Philipines are threatened by this phenomena as well. If this issue is not being addressed, people who do not experience it may not understand the situation of the world we are living in. Maybe it is not global warming, but the climate really is changing.

The fact that in a particular town this particular summer was less hot then usual does not mean much---we have to look at world wide statistics to see if the phenomena is real.

well it probably is, but at least a real genius, former Nasa admin Michael Griffin stated something interesting about it..

Sorry this is not a comment on the post but just a question. I hope it will be read.

I have been a member of Vox for 5 months and I have only seen ONE daily question and only ONE welcome page with, I think, the same imge all the time, in all those 5 months. Now, this is on the French side of Vox and I don't know if the same goes on in other languages.

What I would like to know is this; Are there any plans to keep the site alive on the part of the administrators? it would be nice to talk about Vox and to get people to come on over without them saying that "It is allways the same!"

I would appreciate an awnser just so I can know what to expect. I like Vox a lot and do not plan on leaving but would like to have more friends join.

My Short Climate Change Post

there is a climate change problem,maybe not for the same reason as that other peace prize winner but it does exist,and sense people are not going to give up their climate controled lives we need to find some new sources of energy,how about wave power,you know waves they keep crashing in and going back out, there has to be a way of making use of that without doing any harm.

Ian Pilmer has never published a scientific journal article disproving global warming. Not one. The scientific community agrees on global warming. Sorry, charlie.

On the Little Ice Age article. "Unusually warm conditions have prevailed since the 1920s, probably related to a relative absence of major explosive volcanic eruptions and higher levels of greenhouse gases". What makes it "unusually" warm? This guesswork is your facts?

Projection article. Interpretations, uncertainties, probabilities. "absence of policies to limit climate change" haha don't make me laugh so hard. Noticed that they left out the current cooling or the cooling in the 1970's. Oh gee, could it be that we were coming out of the little ice age? Oh no, why use any common sense. Let's interpret some more things to prove us right. lol

The 1970s were ten years out of 100 years of data. And the words unusually and probably show that scientists, unlike global warming deniers, don't believe in absolutes.

If you don't think journal articles are valid, there's not much more I can say. I'm earning a master's degree in biology so I think I'm at least qualified to tell you how scientists (my professors, researchers, not necessarily myself) determine what real science is.

Mmm.. Did you know that a few years ago that the sun was spitting out sun spots that broke the charts? Couldn't global warming, if there is any, be related to things that are out of our control? Such as the sun?
We can't control everything. That's what I don't like about a lot of scientists, that they think that we are the cause of everything.
I think global warming is more about political power than actual concern for the planet. The government sends out funding for scientists who believe in global warming, that's why you don't hear of the ones who disagree, because they're funding is often cut off.

Actually, scientists do account for things outside of our control, and don't say we are the cause of everything. And you think only the government provides funding? I suppose the oil companies and other energy companies are nearly broke and don't fund any scientists at all...

Basically, it's happening for the same reason the financial crisis did. People thought: "I borrowed/lent one dollar, and there was absolutely no effect at all! So I can borrow/lend one billion dollars and there will be absolutely no effect at all!"

That's why you're hearing the word "Climate Change" bandied about. Global warming scientists have had their work scrutinized long before they finished studying it, so they backpeddaled and called it climate change so people wouldn't get so confused. The global cooling scare was largely the result of the media. Far more scientific papers were published in the 70s predicting warming.

You're confused. Al Gore isn't a scientist. He's a politician (a Democrat) who ran for President of the United States. He didn't "make up" global warming.

There are several fields of science that study Earth processes - scientists from these fields discovered global warming and published the data in scientific journal articles.

Try spending less time watching television and more time reading the literature.

The graphs in the slideshow only begin in 1991. The data actually goes back to the late 1800s. I wouldn't trust slideshows which edit out almost 100 years of data.

I'd like to watch the video but it requires a signup. Do you have it somehwere else? I'll try googling it. I did get to see the slideshow. Did you see this video? As this scientist points out, science is not embodied in the people. It's embodied in the methods.

If one guy stands up and says something about global warming, no matter how popular or charming he is, that doesn't really tell us anything about a complicated scientific theory. We need to read the data as a whole and understand all the research that has been done, not just bits and pieces of it.

Do you have an opinion on current cancer treatments? Would you know 100 percent if one was better than another? Of course not, because you're not an oncologist. The general public needs to read the literature before they say they're 100 percent positive about this.

Actually since most of the earth appears to be in a cooling trend rather than warming, they should have distributed all the money they spent going there to you and I and kept their footprint to a minimum.

However since I have tried to emulate Al Gore, I am sorry I just CANNOT live up to his standards of misrepresenting facts in his movie "An Inconvenient Fairy Tale" and to the amount of 'carbon' he spreads all around the world every time he opens his mouth.

Carbon is actually good for the earth because WITHOUT IT WE WOULD NOT EAT! ALL plants take in carbon dioxide in order to make food. So WHAT is so bad about it? Al Gore sure LOOKS as tho he LIKES FOOD! Also there never has been any conclusive evidence that carbon has anything to do with warming. Think about it .... when you light something or burn leaves, the carbon dioxide goes into the air and is taken in by plants to make CARBOhydrates. To me that is good.

And I also cannot even come close to using as much energy as his house does. In fact I believe it would take me and 10 of my neighbours to come close.

Warming is good if it was happening.

It seems like quite a number of the skeptics of climate change are coming from the North America, since this is being politicized by people like al gore. Probably they are not experiencing the bad weather, the rising temperature, the rising sea level, and the extinction of species and habitats. That may have been the reason why european countries are advancing in eco-communalism (not communism) and slowly moving away from the extreme capitalist beliefs. They want to be independent and sovereign like the US too, by focusing on saving the environment instead of sending people to war. If you don't want to sign the whatever protocols that involve the environment, why don't you prove that you can be an example of a country that is lush wish greeneries and stuff. Go to Africa and see what is happening. In fact, the US has always been the leading superpower of the world in almost everything and impose rules on other countries as if they are not sovereign. I don't really care about american government (and who the heck is this al gore anyway?). I'm not speaking on behalf of your US presidency or whatsoever, but if human beings can do open burning that causes regional haze, animal extinction, and massive wildfire, it is not impossible that they can cause global warming. This is happening everywhere in the third world countries (and I have witnessed it). Maybe you should start to visit these countries and evaluate yourself instead of blindy trusting the russian hackers (and why are they only russians?). It seems like you are only worried about having to pay extra money for the government. And I don't really care about that.

From the link you have given it shows how selfish and irresponsible this Robinson guy is. Going green is about advancing in technology as well. Unless you don't do R&D, humans will never go down with technology. Life is improved by problem solving, and that is part of science. He never mentioned countries like Japan that manages to incoporate modern city with lush greeneries. And they still prosper. Technologies help the third world countries to develop themselves while sustaining the environment (because we still have trees to spare). But instead, we are forced to feed the capitalist needs by being brainwashed into pushing our economy into the max, while ignoring the R&D in it. For example what will happen when there is no fossil fuel left in this world? With proper research, you might be able to increase oil production twicefold.With proper research, you might have to use other resources to replace oil.

Remember that there is always a pros and cons in scientific achievement. I bet if there millions of scientists who thinks like Robinson, the world will suffer badly through pollution. The only technology genocide we will see is coming from his ideology which is filled with ignorance under the disguise of 'freedom'.

That's why people always said the americans are so rich with environmental resources that most of them never learn to appreciate it.
