[this is good]
As part of last week's release, the Vox home page got a bit of a facelift. Our goal is to use the home page to highlight interesting and fun posts plus give you a snapshot of what's going on in your neighborhood.
As part of the redesign, we moved recent comments. We've heard your feedback and we're looking into a way to sprinkle recent comments back into the home page (we miss them too!) In the meantime, please check your Recent Activity in the Reader to keep track of comments.
One of the biggest changes to the Vox home page is the new [this is good] box where we highlight neat things found on Vox.
Every few days we'll highlight a handful of posts and a photo. The
purpose is to give Vox visitors an idea of what goes on around Vox, and
Vox users can click through the links and possibly find some new
friends or just leave a comment or a friendly [this is good].
So far we've been highlighting employees and friends of Six Apart, but we want to highlight posts and photos from any Vox user. If you have post or photo you'd like to nominate, just email the link to thisisgood at sixapartdotcom. Please let us know if the link is from your own blog, or from someone else's. Or you can just tag your post or photo with "tig" and we'll find it.
If you have posts or photos that you definitely don't want highlighted in the [this is good] box on the home page, you have two options. You can post it privately to friends and/or family or, if you want to keep your post or photo public, you can check this box on the compose page:
If we see that box checked on one of your posts or photos, we'll know that you don't want it linked from the home page.
So, what's good on Vox? Tell us!
Comments
(And yes, I'm plugging myself; I don't care, I like it here in Vox.)
If only clicking the [this is good] checkbox would perform an automatic nomination or some other type of button or link would do it.
unless that's in the works, and i'm jumping the gun. :)
There will be another way to suggest [this is good] content in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
And new uploads from friends (images, music, etc).
I feel that the current state of the Home-page is better suited for the Explore page... in fact, it would be perfect for the Explore page. People would immediately get an overview of highlighted posts and images, see what the recent favourites are and scroll through the most recently listed posts.
I know others will dissagree but I greatly preferred the set-up the way it was before the facelift.
Of course, the ultimate would to offer multiple modules that people could choose from to customise their Home-page to be how they wished... similar to LiveJournal’s “portal” page.

It would be *awesome* if, after posting a new entry, every paragraph in that new entry (in the blog view, when signed in) had an instant Edit-Me icon/affordance, which worked in the way that Flickr photo title or description editing works, right away, without having to load a totally new page.
This way, rather than clicking edit to fix a single typo in your last post or adding one extra line or link, you could do so with immediate gratification. Mmm, immediate gratification...
@Beca and steelie: I agree with you guys. You should check out the "Bee" Release comment thread here where others have voiced opinions like yours.
@steelie: Awesome suggestion for the Explore front page. Definitely submit that as Feedback.
@TeamVox: Thanks for the response. I will be staying tuned for the other way to suggest [this is good] content.
Thank you
