Suggestion Box: Vox Hunt, QotD & [tig]
Did you know that you can send in your own suggestions for the Question of the Day, the Vox Hunt prompt, and the [this is good] box?
Many
of you already knew that, but it seemed like a good time to remind you
all (especially since the [this is good] suggestion mechanism was
accidentally turned off for a few days after our last release). Just look for the suggest link:
Your suggestion will be sent via a private message to an actual human member of Team Vox. We review all your suggestions, then select and schedule them with several goals in mind, including variety, entertainment, appeal, appropriateness (is that a word?) and more.
We love to watch and see which QotDs, Vox Hunts and [this is good] features really strike a nerve with the community, and we hear you when a certain day's post doesn't speak to you. The best way to influence the subjects we cover is to send in your suggestions! Plus you'll get a full day of Vox fame with your name & blog linked in the prompt.
A special note for the Vox Hunt suggestions: we're trying to include a prompt each week for videos, books and audio. So please feel free to make some suggestions with those subjects in mind!
As much as we'd love to, we simply won't be able to use every suggestion. Often several people send in the same suggestion, and some just don't seem appropriate to Vox. Truth be told, a lot of us on Team Vox have a slightly, um, different sense of humor, but since Vox is a place for everyone (including your dear mother or that one cranky cousin of yours), sometimes we've got to filter out suggestions that made us think or made us laugh.
We'll leave you with a just a few QotD suggestions that just didn't make the cut:
- If you could save only ONE family member at the last minute, who would it be?
- What form of death most terrifies you?
- If you had the opportunity to "make money" in exchange "sexual favors" would you do it?
- Tell us what ads by Google are at the bottom of YOUR Vox page?
Of course there's nothing stopping you from discussing these with your Vox neighborhood!
- Krissy

I second dani. Yes, I think I totally agree that sometimes you just have to filter out suggestions that make you think. You wouldn't want to make people think now, would you? It's not like a diary is a space where you want people to think. In the interest of making this a place for everyone, do we really have to bring it down to a moronic level with regularity If I can choose to NOT answer the typical thinly-veiled apparant marketing survey, why can someone else choose not to answer a question about death if you should choose to answer it. Ah, I understand, AVOID the things that might make us think about hard topics that affect us all.
What pissed me off the most is when you took a friends question "What were you afraid of as a child?" and added "... that seems silly to you now?" Do you not see that this is a totally different question? To add insult to injury you actually put her vox name to it without asking her if it was ok to fundamentally alter her question. Good one.
I love vox, but I hate question of the day with a passion. This entry only confirms to me that "dumbing down" and commercial interests take priority here over the true things we have in common with each other as human beings, such as death.
Guess I should be withdrawing that job application now...
Thank you
