"Show Us Summer" Finalists - Vote For Your Favorite!

Comments

Why were many of these finalists allowed to have more than one photo with the contest tag "summer 2007 photo contest". Isn't that breaking the rule of "Only one (1) Submission per Participant." and giving them an unfair advantage? :-/
You're right, unfortunately we had to disqualify one finalist because of this rule. Everything should be updated now.

Disqualification after you've posted the finalists isn't quite fair.

I know, I know, you've gotta play by the rules, but this just sucks... the mistake should've been dealt with before the announcement. What a bubble to burst.

Sorry, yes, it was only the first one on the list. Kudos for acknowledging the mistake and upholding the rules.
Any clarification on how voting works with that poll system? It looks like it would be easy for anyone to vote multiple times (or does it look for that on the backend and toss out ballot box stuffing?)
It also looks like the numbers vary when you look at further analysis vs. poll results. What is the difference?
Specifically, the official rules say:

"the top ten Submissions will be displayed to and evaluated by the community of Vox users through an online poll voting system."

However, it looks like someone not logged in to Vox can still vote. Are these somehow not counted in the end? Or, is "the community of Vox users" considered to be anyone viewing Vox, whether they are actually signed up or not?

Just wondering if I should bother to get my non-Vox contacts to vote!

I agree. I agree that the rules should be followed, but it would have been more appropriate to have made the disqualification prior to announcing.

Thanks for putting me in the top 10--much to my surprise. And good luck to everyone!
I answered my own questions, NM.
what is the status on this contest?
A compromised ballot box?

My comment above, noting that you didn't have to be logged into Vox to vote, and that you could vote multiple times, was never addressed here.

The fact that my photo only got .1% naturally would lead you to think I am calling sour on the grapes, but I think it was/is a valid concern. Maybe some post-vote backend work will happen to filter out duplicates?

Statistically, I don't think any of the photos (including mine) were spectacular enough to produce results where six photos got less than .5% of the vote or less (four of those with just .1%, and a seventh only 3.8%).

Assuming my fears are unwarranted and the majority of people just really liked three of the ten photos, it looks like you should be the winner Diyosa.
Mikepop--I had the same concerns. According to the results I was one of the top 4 (if I remember correctly) and I honestly believe there were other pictures far better than my own. Even if my picture was as popular, it seems like the polls would be more even?

If there was a problem, hopefully the Vox Team can identify it and correct it if there is another contest.

Despite my concerns, I send my congrats to Diyosa! Take some great pictures, and share them with us. =)
Well, my previous comment and your reply suddenly disappeared out of my "New in Your Neighborhood / Comments" section on the Vox home page, so it would seem that at least someone at Vox is paying attention to this thread after all, if not replying.
Opps, I take it back. They both returned after I posted my last reply, so must have just been a technical glitch.
i have no clue what is up with this contest or Vox for that matter. I received a copy of the newsletter in which I am listed as winning but I have received no message from Vox and they have not replied to any of my emails or this thread.
take the camera and run :)
i'd love to... if they'd send it or contact me about it period.
Obviously they should give each of us a camera :)
That's a good plan mikepop, i like that plan.
