Release Notes: Yow!
We're back, did you miss us? We just launched some new features, so read all about 'em!
Personalized Sharing
You can now include a personal message
when you use the Share feature to send posts or assets to your
friends. Now they won't have to wonder why you're sending them that
photo of a chihuahua - you can tell them right in the message! You can
share with someone who's already on Vox, or send to any email address
and the message will include an opportunity for that person to join.
In the Groups tab, you'll now find a Featured Groups box below your invitations. To get started, we're featuring mostly Vox-related groups, but we'll be featuring more of your groups as time goes by. In the future, we'll add a way for you to nominate a group to be spotlighted.
Updates to Features in Beta
A big thanks to everyone who shared their feedback about the blog dashboard that we introduced in beta in our last release.
It was very helpful -- you've inspired us to re-work the dashboard a
little bit. We're pulling it off beta for now, but look for a new and
improved version to return at a future date.
Starting next week, you'll be able to sign up in beta to receive Vox digest emails which include the last five updates from your neighborhood. We'll tell you more about this next week, with full instructions on how to sign up, so stay tuned!
New Themes
This batch of new themes includes Comic Book,
Mondrian, several colors of Leaves, new Nokia themes and some sponsored
themes from Havaianas. Get the Haivaianas themes while they're hot
because they're only going to be around for a few months! Look for the
Latest Themes module on the home page that displays the most recent themes we've added -- just click the arrows to scroll through all the new designs.
Did someone ask for Sidebar Widgets? (Coming Soon!)
Good news for all of you who want to embed your crazy code and widgets -- in our next release we're bringing post embeds out of beta, so everyone will see the Embed button on the Compose page. Also in that release, you'll be able to add one embed module to your sidebar. We know you want more control over your sidebars and we're working on it, step by step. So hang on for just a few more weeks because we're launching these embedding features in June.

Wait, what? You're going to have themes that go away after a while? Sort of annoying to have someone's theme vanish out from underneath of them, isn't it?
Or did you mean that people will only be able to select those themes for a limited time? (And how will that interact with the "Use This Theme" function?)
Inquiring minds, yadda yadda.
As far as the embedding...the default config(?) needs some tweaking. For example...you can't post most last.fm widgets fully b/c the bottoms are cut off...you can sometimes use your scroll wheel while hovering to bring them up...but I'm sure this kind of thing happens with other embeds.
eeesh...perfect example of needing the ability to delete our own posts...
and a Preview in Compose...
YAY VOX!
And more freedom in sidebar is a good idea.
I was trying to put my flickr bage, however, seems not possible now.
Brilliant!! :D
I swear, just yesterday I was wishing for it soooo bad...
Vox, I love you so much right now ;)
Super news! Enabling details in the "sharing" thing: GREAT!!!!
Embed button in sidebar, etc. FABULOUS!!!!
as for the blog dashboard, I just noticed I didn't have it on my blogpage and I missed it! because I wanted to see the QotD. =D although sometimes it did get annoying.. nevertheless I'm looking forward to the new and improved dashboard. and of course I love the option of hiding the dashboard. very useful!
sidebar widgets! can't wait! and the ability to put more personal links would be nice! ;)
I tested some widgets earlier and wasn't happy with how they'd look in the post, but I realize now that instead of blogging and reviewing, I should have sent you a short note.... :)
In short, boxes around embedded code and positioning are quite a headache, so I'm going to love when we can put them in the sidebar (where widgets belong). Thank you!
ok... the question of the day for us late post readers... how does one get her banners/themes posted for all to use on Vox? Ok, so I've shared my banners, but I'd love to create a theme... any info for me? Have I missed this FAQ somewhere?
Ditto on the font selection on the personalized design page.
Loving Vox as always,
Hops
Bring on the Super Sidebar!
A lack of linking and widgets is making me consider moving my blog elsewhere, but I'll hang on a little longer now.
Feeling, hopeful,

Hops, you didn't miss a FAQ. We've been talking about new personal theme options, including fonts, over the last week, but I can't say if or when it will happen. While you can't share a custom theme, members are posting banner images to the Vox Design group.
I'm completely stoked about the prospect of sidebar widget functionality. :)
You guys and gals are the best on the Internet. I am glad that I have found a home that gives me the ability to express myself.
Sincerely, Raymont/Good Troll
