Random Acts of Bug Fixing
Deep in the bowels of (sorry Krissy!) Here at Six Apart HQ, we've been busily working away to improve your blogging experience. Some time later this afternoon, we're going to release what we internally call version 0.7.5 of Vox[1]. Unlike some of the other releases we've talked about here, here and here, this release is almost all bug fixes, slight interface tweaks and cures to various of the other little things that have been bothering us (and you!) about Vox.
Probably the most noticeable changes will be in how we handle posts from cell phones (what the kids call "moblogging"). Some of the cell phone carriers (we're looking at you, T-Mobile and Verizon) add random titles, advertisements and other crud to the emails you send us from your cell phones. We're doing our best to de-crudify them so your post looks exactly how you'd expect it to.
We also now let you know on the Vox home page if you have more standard invites. Below that nice "Invite Friends to Vox!" graphic is a message that tells you how many invites you have left.
Most of the other changes are subtle and we'll let you find them on your own (it's treasure hunt time!). We are constantly working to improve Vox and are trying to be as responsive as we can to your feedback. Please keep letting us know what you like and don't like and we'll keep trying to do more of what you like and less of what you don't. Most importantly, remember that change is good! We like to release new features about every two weeks and are currently working on some real fun stuff which we'll show you after the July 4th holiday.
[1] For the geeks in our audience who enjoy tracking our version numbers, do a "view source" on your browser and look at the header tags. As I write this, we are currently on version 0.7.3.

I love that you can add your Photobucket pics so easily.. awesome feature :) I do wish that you could pick which ones appear on your blog page, instead of it just being the last ones added. Just a suggestion. Love the site!
It's coming... We're working through some um... uniqueness... of the Photobucket API.
We love unique and special things. Like your ringtone.
Haha! That phrase just turned me off right from the start.
I really appreciate your work. Congratulations on the release of Vox 0.7.5!
What I'd really like to see is the ability to create longer passwords. I know that design is the focus of Vox at the moment, but I'm one of those unusual people on the web that prefers to have a 20+ character password.
Thanks, and keep up the good work. :)
Hey, I like this neighborhood! Thanks for letting me move in. Come over to my Blog Warming Party any time. No need to bring anything, looks like we have all the supplies we need.
Ah, 'uniqueness'.. my laptop is unique from time to time ;)
I wanted to also add that one of the things I really like about VOX is the absence of the calendar showing how many entries were posted each day, etc.. (like the one on LiveJournal). If this feature is added at some point later on, it would be nice to be able to turn it on and off. That way, when private or restricted posts are made, no one knows. Does that make any sense? I feel like I am rambling..
So far, I'm liking what I see here. Unfortunately, I can't really test the waters until I get a standard account. Also, how versitile will Vox be in the future or is it too soon to ask that question?
it would be nice to be able to rotate moblog pictures.
Yeah, I use Verizon and it dumps a bunch of junk in the entry about how to view the picture that is sitting RIGHT THERE IN THE ENTRY.
Um, what tiiana said :)
Excuse me if I am wrong but I am preey sure I heard someone say somewhere that VOX and LiveJournal would have integration ....am I just crazy?
how do you get standard invites?
you might want to fix the broken html link to vox.com/connect on the homepage:
Vox Tip: Connect with your friends and family
Vox lets you share your posts, photos and other items with your friends and family. You can find connections on Vox by searching for them using the box on the right, or from the Connect page. If there’s someone on Vox you want to add as a Friend or as a member of your Family, you can connect to them easily by clicking on the “Connect to…” link at the top of their blog.
I'm getting funny characters displayed on all the Vox pages. My browser is set to Unicode (UTF-8); is that not right?
I don't know how hard to implement but, as a terrible speller, I would love to have spelling correction extended to comments.
I'd love to have a standard account, if someone's interested in inviting me. As a writer, I just want to sink my claws in this new service before I lose interest. It's happened before...
This place looks great so far but I only have a starter account. If anyone's got any standard invites left, I'd love to have one! email: milongel (at) gmail (dot) com.
so far i have to admit i'm loving vox. i'm a diehard lj-er, but this has a lot of cool features and seems like a nice balance of lj and a more "traditional" blogging site.
i'd love the ability to link up with our youtube accounts like there is for photobucket and flickr.
also, blah blah blah, want standard invites, yada yada.
oh, and i LOVE having the qotd.
If it isn't too rude... does any one have an upgrade invite they care to send me? This starter stuff is rather fun... but I'm missing the blog part. My email is: schwegler@gmail.com
If no one cares to, sorry for the query.
I was wondering how you decide when Starter accounts become Standard -- is it just done automatically based on how long the account's been around, or do you guys pick and choose?
Hey! Anyone have an extra standard invite that they could toss my way? TIA!
candi@bex.net
looks great so far, I got lucky enough to get a starter acct, can't wait to be able to explore further eventually, as a photographer this looks like heaven.
It's odd to have a title suddenly become editable when viewing a post. So I'm admiring my great post as it appears on my blog, click on the title thinking it's a link to copy it and send it to a blogging pal, and suddenly it's edibable. Maybe turn down some of the whizzy-bangy UI features and I bet you'd have less bugs to fix.
The compose page is messed up in Opera 9. Screenshot.
Are there any plans to make it possible to reply to comments directly, a la LiveJournal? 'Cause that's one of the main things that I'd need (like air to breathe; I ain't kiddin') if you wanted to lure me away from LJ.
I'm currently inviting a whole bunch of people over from LJ. I hope I get some standard invites out of that. ;)
Will blogs ever be searchable by interest?
I wanted to add a ♥ to my profile transcription and interests, and it wouldn't translate. Not cool.
It's a little annoying that everyone I invite is automatically added to my neighbourhood. I'm also giving out invites to friends' friends and keep having to remove them from my neighbourhood.
Also, a 'preview comment' function would be really nice. Like, really, really nice.
