QotD Twitters

This is great and all but HOW do you display it in Vox?
My question too, without HTML sidebar elements I'm not sure how I can get my badge on VOX.

great stuff thanks.

(OT) but Vox desperately needs customisable sidebars.. like modules or something. Put a RSS feed into one, a flash thing into another, a Twitter badge into another etc. I know it needs to be controlled, or it could mess up the layouts, but there must be a way of implementing it. We can do it with Livejournal, blogger, etc etc Its the one thing Vox is missing
You can even grab a badge to display the QotD or your own Twitter account in your Vox.
It says in the post that you can add it. But how?

Sweet gods of Vox... answer.

And if the answer is to just embed it into a post, that kinda blows and defeats the purpose.

@ Halo and Jacob Smith: Just use the Embed button in the Compose page to drop in the code. Right now you can only display it in a post.
Ridiculous. They updated the post. Embedding.

To me, the purpose of Twitter is to be constantly updated and visible. Putting it in a post that will go to the bottom of pages and get lost in archives is just plain silly. It needs to be a sidebar element.

Great! I love my twitterings and my pointless rambling on vox so combining the two makes my day.

However, I have to agree with Halo. The whole concept of twitter is to have free flowing updates. Constantly having to embed and post defeats the purpose. Sidebar elements would be a dream.

One imperfect solution is to use a site like tumblr which can feed twitter, vox, flickr and others into one page.
I also like Jaiku ...
If you use 30boxes and Firefox, you might consider using Power Twitter, a neat browser extension that enhances your Twitter experience.

As for the embedding in posts, I agree with the other commenters, many things really belong in a sidebar, as I already mentioned in a post on my blog. I'm thinking Flickr badges, del.icio.us links and tag clouds, Wists, Kaboodle badges, CoComment, Meebo me, RSS feeds ... etc. etc. etc.

twitter needs to be available in the sidebar. I love using twitter and would love to ombine the two as I ha ve done with my Virb page.

I Twitter AND I Jaiku. I even started a Vox Group for Jaiku.
I don't twitter but I do Jaiku. =)

because of this post, i joined twitter.

though now i want to try jaiku. and also (because someone mentioned it) maintain my poor neglected virb.

ah. i'm such an internet whore at times!
and then........i tried it and didn't like it after all. oh well. fun while it lasted.

(but the concept is nice. not for me though!)
I understand the appeal of twitter, but I personally want to see categories of things I've done ("Oh, I did three comics this week") rather than maintaining a bite-sized text-only blog.

So I made this: http://www.baresquare.com <-- totally blatant self-link.

Also, I second other voxers: we need embeddable sidebars.
I just started, and it's totally pointless. Still, it's a great waste of time.

And yeah, it'd be great to embed this in a sidebar, I'm kinda bummed that we can't already.

Jaiku is better than Twitter in a lot of respects, such as tools available for it:

http://mashable.com/2007/05/08/jaiku-tools/

plus a lovely Symbian client, and it just LOOKS nicer :)

Thing is... most people are on Twitter. So what can you do? (Apart from convince them to switch, or maintain both)

Dang and I thought twitter will be available as a sidebar!

I don't see an embed button???
Or tell them to use IMified, which allows for simultaneous posting to both Twitter and Jaiku ...
Go to your Vox account info page, and tick the box to participate in Vox beta testing. The embed feature is still in beta, and not available unless you participate ...
I am loving Jaiku! Thanks for the suggestion!

Yup Twitter is good stuff, one of my first posts to Vox as I was learning was to embed Twitter...

alas when I realized I could not put it in the sidebar I was sorely ... sorely disappointed. Really a RSS feed of my netflix and twitter into the sidebar is all I ask at the moment. Flickr might be nice too though. :)

I prefer Jaiku. Twitter is great without the ads but I just love the Jaiku layout a lot better. I don't see the point of this post really since we can't customized the sidebar. We should have an option for that like Multiply.
Only those that had a paid Multiply account, before it became impossible to have a paid account, can customise the sidebar.
True so Vox should make it possible.
What is Jaiku like for spam? Out of the blue I've just had a marriage proposal message, which is very flattering, but I fear it may be spam.
So far I haven't seen any spam on Jaiku. How did the proposal end up on your Jaiku?
In the form of a message, it was a formal proposal. I exaggerated but he or she was definitely offering something. It was probably a fluke. Inspired by my amazing taste in music from Last.fm or something. :)

Still loving it so thanks for suggesting it.
The Jaiku people seem to be aware of the problem ...
Thanks! Although for a moment I felt special :P

Seriously, thanks for your help.

GOOD, GOOD, GOOD - I just embedded my Twitter!

(That sounds a bit lewd. Sorry.)
