QotD Twitters
For those of you who Twitter, we wanted to let you know that the Question of the Day now automatically updates its own Twitter account. Special thanks to Kentaro for setting up and maintaining it.
Add QotD to your Twitter friends: http://twitter.com/qotd_vox
You can even grab a badge to display the QotD or your own Twitter account as a post in your Vox blog. Just use the Embed button in the Compose page to drop in the code.
If you haven't been introduced to Twitter yet, their website describes it as: "a global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing? Answer on your phone, IM, or on the web!" You can sign up for a free account to check it out.
We know that some of you are already on Twitter, many of you are posting about it, and some of you just refuse to try it. Let us know what you think. Do you Twitter?

(OT) but Vox desperately needs customisable sidebars.. like modules or something. Put a RSS feed into one, a flash thing into another, a Twitter badge into another etc. I know it needs to be controlled, or it could mess up the layouts, but there must be a way of implementing it. We can do it with Livejournal, blogger, etc etc Its the one thing Vox is missing
Sweet gods of Vox... answer.
And if the answer is to just embed it into a post, that kinda blows and defeats the purpose.
To me, the purpose of Twitter is to be constantly updated and visible. Putting it in a post that will go to the bottom of pages and get lost in archives is just plain silly. It needs to be a sidebar element.
However, I have to agree with Halo. The whole concept of twitter is to have free flowing updates. Constantly having to embed and post defeats the purpose. Sidebar elements would be a dream.
One imperfect solution is to use a site like tumblr which can feed twitter, vox, flickr and others into one page.
As for the embedding in posts, I agree with the other commenters, many things really belong in a sidebar, as I already mentioned in a post on my blog. I'm thinking Flickr badges, del.icio.us links and tag clouds, Wists, Kaboodle badges, CoComment, Meebo me, RSS feeds ... etc. etc. etc.
twitter needs to be available in the sidebar. I love using twitter and would love to ombine the two as I ha ve done with my Virb page.
though now i want to try jaiku. and also (because someone mentioned it) maintain my poor neglected virb.
ah. i'm such an internet whore at times!
(but the concept is nice. not for me though!)
So I made this: http://www.baresquare.com <-- totally blatant self-link.

Also, I second other voxers: we need embeddable sidebars.
And yeah, it'd be great to embed this in a sidebar, I'm kinda bummed that we can't already.

plus a lovely Symbian client, and it just LOOKS nicer :)
Thing is... most people are on Twitter. So what can you do? (Apart from convince them to switch, or maintain both)
Dang and I thought twitter will be available as a sidebar!
Yup Twitter is good stuff, one of my first posts to Vox as I was learning was to embed Twitter...
alas when I realized I could not put it in the sidebar I was sorely ... sorely disappointed. Really a RSS feed of my netflix and twitter into the sidebar is all I ask at the moment. Flickr might be nice too though. :)
Still loving it so thanks for suggesting it.
Seriously, thanks for your help.
GOOD, GOOD, GOOD - I just embedded my Twitter!
(That sounds a bit lewd. Sorry.)
