A new release today brings a number of backend improvements that improve Vox's performance. You won't see them, but they're there to keep Vox performing like you've come to expect.

Cross-post-lj

Two additions which you will be able to see, however:

We enabled cross-posting on public Vox posts to your LiveJournal. If you write a public post on Vox that you'd also let your LJ friends know you've written, all you need is to enable an option in your Vox account and click a check box when you want to post.

Lj-crosspost

When your cross-post to your LiveJournal, you'll see an excerpt and a link back to your Vox blog.

We've added twelve new themes to Vox, many of which came from our Vox banner contest. Additionally, the two winners of the Foxkeh theme contest is represented. Thanks to Michael, Kenn, Teresa, Tomohito, Taylor, Katy, and Cindy for your contributions!

A little special treat for our beta testers -- if you joined Vox prior to the official launch on October 26th, you'll have a special theme to use if you'd like to signify that you were part of Vox's early days.

Additionally, those beta testers also have a little badge on their profile page to let everyone know that you helped make Vox come to be.

A light release, but fun nonetheless. We're already working on our next release and your feedback helps! Keep it coming and keep on posting to Vox.

Any chance you're gonna flip that around and let LJ posts be crossposted here? I've been using LJ for 5 years now, and I'd love to be able to pop some of my posts over here without copy/pasting. Also, since it has account verification, perhaps you could add in a way to make it friends only on LJ and vice versa? I'm really glad to see some LJ integration. Thanks!

Vox people, I want to use Vox in my classes- I'm a teacher. The Vox neighborhood idea will help keep me and the kids connected. Something other blogs don't offer. It is a great resource for sharing our media creations in class as well as part of a semi-permeable community. Vox rocks!

Strange. I could of sworn that I read this post last night... but then when I went to look for my uber special beta-tester badge in my profile and came back the post was gggggone. Out Darn leaks!

On the aesthetics, I'd love too see more smooth/clean/minimalist themes.

On the functionality end, I'd love to see more Vox Privacy Groups (VPG) - other than friends and family.

but there are some useful features, which are still undone: setting the default value for "crosspost to LJ" checkbox, adding such checkbox to the mobile posting and setting default tags for crossposted entries (i also use an LJ->VOX crossposter and it's hard to distinguish the items which are written to LJ directly and the ones which are crossposted from VOX and do not need to be crossposted again)

Fro crying out loud ... could you add Amazon.ca (Canada) to the "add from Amazon" lists? Yuo have .com, .uk, .jp, and .fr ... how about .ca.

good stuff on the LJ crossposting especially. one question: is there any timescale for the API so that its possible to use third party blogging editors like Performancing?

just recently checked out vox, and its great - on the design/look & feel front particularly, its streets ahead of the competition.

i know this might kind of go against that design ethic, but my other question: are there any plans to support embedding third-party widgets?

apologies if these questions have been asked before, i did do a search but couldnt find anything!

I agree with Xtopher Robin. VOX would be that much closer to absolutely perfect if the LJ cross-posting went both ways. I've been using LJ a long time and have a paid account, so I'd be stoked if I could cross-post to AND from LJ at least until my paid time expires. :x

Vox is great, great job so far (I understand that Safari support is somewhat beyond Vox's responsibility at this point...) Any chance of del.icio.us and last.fm integration? Those are two special purpose sites that I think would complement well with Vox.

When composing a post, set the permissions to "you only (draft)". Then save the post as you normally would. This is how to preview the post before finally saving it for public consumption.

One minor issue: when I forgot to check the cross-posting box, and I went back to edit my Vox entry, the cross-post option was no longer available. Bummer.

I love the idea, but I can't enable the cross-posting. When I put in my username and password for my LiveJournal account and hit authorize, it just tells me "Username and password required." Did I hit a bug or am I doing it wrong?
