The new homepage is great, much more useful, and very nice looking, and I'm loving the new themes!

Keep at it guys! Vox's always getting better!

I love watching the evolution of Vox, what an awesome service...thanks!

I'm lovin Vox! Keep up the good work!

i love VOX!!!!!
GREAT job! Thanks!
thats all lovely and everything but i still dont know how to get to the pages I myself have marked as favorite...and would LOVE to know.
Love the [this is good] area. I will miss being able to see recent comments on the home page. And I am quite particular to one of the new themes.
@BULLETPROOFsoul: Check your profile page. There should be a link for Favorites.

awesome release! things are really coming together...
I liked the previous main page better. It used to look more user-friendly.
But the worst part is the absent of recent comments. I think it would be good not to have to jump to a sub-page only to check if someone wrote something.
That's all nice and everything, but... um... am I missing something because I no longer see the Typepad cross-posting box.
Teresa - Weird that it's not showing up for you. It should still be there. If you go to your account settings, does it still show that your TypePad blog is properly configured?

Email me - steve at sixapart dot com and I'll help you get sorted.
I *hate* the new fast-flashing animated recent comments deal. The old recent comments layout was much more useful.

I love the "Country Night" theme. Thanks!

At first look, the new home page looks nice too. Great release!

Totally hear you about the recent comments. To read your recent comments, we've built out an entire page. As with all of Vox, this will be made easier to use/find in the next couple releases. We think that you should like all these improvments! We will be making it even easier for you to catch up on all new content on one page.

You guys are amazing. The front page looks awesome.
i like the updated homepage, although i still miss having the recent comments on the homepage. i would prefer if they had that still included. still some cool updates though.
i liked the old one better. found it more informational.
This will take some getting used to but I like the direction things are going!

BTW, the "recent posts" at the bottom is cycling too fast and maybe I'm just easily distracted, but my scroll bar changes with each cycle. Guess that's happening because the area varies from post to post, changing the screen size. I'm probably not making sense...
Here's a tip. If you click on one of the recent posts, the animation to cycle through new posts will stop.
I'm not really digging this release. I don't like how everything moves, and I liked my comments where they were [in a nice, "this is the most recent :D" format].

The pages are still too wide, and we still don't have LJ-style comments.

Not that I'm just commenting to gripe - I do appreciate all you guys are doing, and know you're trying to please the greatest amount of people. Keep it up =)
Er. That "recent posts" thing at the bottom. I'd like a way to switch that to something else, some other mode, or what-have-you by default. I don't want to have to "click on one of the recent posts." It shouldn't be doing funny things to my scrollbar in the first place, thanks!

I like what you guys are doing with the place, but this one's a bit annoying.
We hear your feedback. And like I said, we're still tweaking and figure out what works. All we ask is that you just let it soak in a little bit before completely making your decision. As we use the new dashboard, we may also realize things were better a different way.
[this is good]
Seattle city theme please? Please please? :-)
I for one find the new Vox home better to look at and less confusing than the old one. I appreciate all the work you're doing. There is only one thing I keep hoping for with every new release and that's always denied me: pages that respect smaller browser windows. Not everyone likes having their windows set at full screen. Please let us view pages properly too!
@raf : thanx i see it now ;)
Mena, thanks for the tip!
I love the new themes... thanks so much. <3 You always know what to do to make a person happy, VOX.
I find the neighborhood post animation to be incredibly jarring. What I originally loved about Vox was its simple and elegant interface and aesthetic. Personally, I'm not sure why the "recently favorited" sidebar item is even necessary and if given the choice I would definitely nix it in favor of the "recent comments" sidebar item. Less is more :)
Groovy new themes. Good work!
Hurray! I am always looking out for new release update from the Vox team. Good job, y'all!

BTW, there is a bug on "Recently favorited on Vox". Most of the entries are identical.
I like today's changes to the home page! The home page is now more of a jumping-off point, where you explore other people's content. Good stuff. And the reader is getting better and better. Nice job, team!

(It's all been said before, but just want to weigh in on the changes in case in makes a difference for future design.)

I love some of the improvements, but I've got to say I liked the old-style 'recent comments' much better than the new (or newly promoted) 'recent activity' page. It was much easier to quickly scan just the new stuff and not have to scroll through pages of comments you already read, or have to specifically seek them out. Plus, I guess I just liked the old Home page better ~ having it all in one place, a quick scan, an easy update.

If you haven't taken a look at it, check out recent activity in the reader. We had a lot more space there to show activity than we did on the home page.
[this is good]

I really dig the [this is good], although I, too, miss the old comment set-up.

Call me a dork, but I feel the subject of this update should've been "The buzz about Bee." Har har... har... *hides in a corner*

[this is good]

i love it!
thank you!
will multiple authors for a group blog be a feature any time soon?
I also miss the "recent comments" but I suppose I can get used to reach them through read->recent activity.

But please please PLEASE make an option to disable the cycling through the recent posts, it makes me dizzy, and manually clicking on it every time is not a good solution !

Also it could be awesome if the users were allowed to customize the content of their "home" page, like, for example, the Google users can customize their home page. Some (most ?) of the users are not really interested in random posts, no matter favourited by strangers or not, for them it would be useful to replace this module with the recent comments module.
Fantastic, really great. I love Vox.

That being said, please... the profile. Can we get a little customization there? I'm not asking for much, just... I don't want my profile "About me" section or whatever it is to be one big paragraph. I understand your concerns about allowing HTML but can we at least get the same options we do for our posts? Paragraphs? Something bold? A bit of color?

Cheers if you're already working on it. And feel free to tell me to bugger off. :)
Great revamp of the search for users function, thanks for taking our feedback to heart!
I love the frequency of Vox releases. Always keeps us on our toes and play with new stuff. Thanks guys.

My 2 cents on the new home page: it feels less like my home page now. As it stands, I have to scroll to get to any personalized content.
- I love the team vox news box.
- I like the compact Recent Posts (but not the animation). Though I'm unclear on why content I've said I'm interested in (i.e. posts from friends & neighbours) is way down on the bottom of the page (requiring scrolling) and gets less space than random content that other voxers are talking about.
- I'm another one who is more interested in my "recent activity" than in other people's favourited.

But that said, great job guys! Keep them coming, and we'll keep using and complaining. ;->
So, Bee: Samantha, I'm guessing?
I love new releases, too--it always means oodles of prettiness! The [this is good] section at the top of the home page is nice, but I will echo most other people and say that I'm much more interested in seeing recent comments on the home page than seeing recently favorited. I'm glad we can still access that in the reader, I guess, but I wasn't using the reader at all (why would I, when I can just view my neigborhood, or friends, or family, etc?) and now I have to.

I'm wondering... how do the ability to see posts in our language works? Where can I set it to French?

Do I have to have "France" as my location? I'm asking because you called this change a "Localization improvement", and I don't find anywhere to set my favorite language...

You can set your preferred language in the Account Info page. Vox currently supports English, Japanese and French.
Thanks! :)
the new themes are awesome! YOU GUYS are awesome! keep it up! :D
[this is good]
I love it. Also, can we pleasepleaseplease get a little form field or something in the edit profile section where we can enter our website URLs? Thank you!

Count my vote for the old comments layout. It's a scanning thing for me, I'm interested, but not enough to go to another location...

I love the "found on vox" feature, and am very glad to see that you liked the photo. Does this make me a Vox star? ;-)

I don't find the 'recent actvity' a good replacement for the 'recent comments' on the old home page because a. I have to navigate through more pages (and it's not that easy or intuitive to find), b. I have to remember to actually go there and look (which I don't), and c. then I have to scoll down pages of things, most of which I've already seen before, just to try to see anything new.

I like to scan everything quickly (new stuff, esp my neighborhood, all on one page) and then delve deeper into more what I want.

(I live in SF; I'd be happy to come in for any Vox usability studies...for a t-shirt of course :))

[this is good]
a fresh look never hurts!
Laurel hit the issue perfectly.
The recent posts on the home page changes every 3 seconds until you either mouse over it or click a person's user pic. I like this feature, but on the other hand, it does change the vertical size of the page. Perhaps we can avoid that by sizing the box to the largest of all the post excerpts.

Thanks for all the kind comments :)
I have to ditto missing the 'recent comments' section...
[this is good]
it looks to me like the old recent comments is relocated on my blog page. this is ok, but i don't need to read my blog, i wrote it, but i do like seeing comments others make on things i have commented on in other blogs.

i think the flashy comment is ok, but less useful to me. i don't think you should trash it, but maybe make it optional.

i really like the view responses for qotd and hunt. those 2 features of vox really keep me here and posting.

i think home needs to be an option on the menu on top. maybe it's just me, but i don't always have an option of going to my home. if clicking on my name or picutre takes me to my blog, then why have a menu option for blog as well? this is super redundant.

I'm pretty new to vox but one of the things i really loved was seeing the "recent comments" on friends posts. It was a way to stay engaged in conversation. It is much more important to me, in a community like this which I use to keep in touch with people I care about to know what my friends are saying/doing than what random strangers are listing as favorites.
Anna's comments are right on. Also, it seems odd that there isn't a notification system in place that alerts you when others respond to comments you make on their entries. Communication is a two way street and it's very difficult to have the type of "tiled" conversation many of us are used to in the blog world if we aren't aware of comment responses (especially if the recent comment section isn't going to be moved back to the main vox page). Perhaps it's time to implement a "reply" system of sorts?
This new release is great and thanks for the new themes. I can only hope that there will be access in the future to different customization features, like font preference and the ability to select tags to add to a post instead of having to type them in manually. Other than that, I love Vox and can't wait to see what comes out next.
I've got to agree with most of the comments here. By far the coolest thing about Vox was being able to follow up on posts where I had left comments--at a glance, on the homepage--without having to do anything other than engage in a given conversation. I don't understand why that has been replaced with what other people have as their favorites. What about what I had decided were my favorites by commenting on them?? Why do the preferences of the anonymous mass of Voxers outrank the community that I've built?? I don't think being able to view other people's favorites is bad, but what isn't it on the "Explore" page instead?

You say you all about building community, Team Vox, but you've taken everything on the home page related to my community and either removed it or delegated it to annoying, moving thumbnails at the bottom of the page. Why?
