More Invitations!
As Mena mentioned last week, we added a lot of goodness to Vox recently. If there's been one common theme to the feedback so far, I'd have to say [this is good] about sums it up. I was a pretty heavy user of the mobile features myself during a week of vacation, but now that I'm back home I can't wait to dig in to iStockphoto (try to insert a photo into your post and you'll see what I'm talking about). Every post looks better when it has a picture. Or video. Or mp3.
With this release, we are also responding to your feedback that the whole starter account thing wasn't working and have decided to shelve that feature for now. Last week, we upgraded all starter accounts to standard accounts (yay!) and have turned that account level off. You'll lose the unlimited invites thing, but most starters weren't happy about the limits on the accounts they were getting. To make up for it, we're going to start being more generous with giving out standard invites and in fact are adding a few more invites to everyone's accounts this week.
Want to know how many invites you have left? The easiest way is to check out the Vox home page on the right side of the page (by the picture of the ticket).
Oh and we do tend to give more invites to people with none left, we spot them first. So don't feel the need to save that last invite for someone special. We'll give you more, we want you to invite all your someones special.

I'm curious what determined how many invites you got this time around. I only had two invites, but other people in my neighborhood had 4 or 6 to give out. Was it random? Was it based on how many invites you'd already given out?
Thank you for adding more Standard invites. I've had many people asking for them.

elfgirl... we give out invites based on a bunch of different things including how often you post, how many friends you have, how many invites you've been given already, how many you have left in your account, how long you've been on the service and a few other factors. People in your neighborhood who had 4 or 6 were probably newer to Vox than you were and this time we gave newer people more.
The formula changes every time.
aa -- Excellent! Thank you. The people in my neighborhood who had 4-6 to give out were mostly people I'd given starter invites, so that makes perfect sense.

This service has Great Potential! I can think of 3 or 4 people to invite. Getting a few invites would be Great!
I've already seen the comment about how invites are distributed, but I was additionally curious as to why I started off with zero invites, as I would really like to spread the word about Vox :)
I know some people that would love to join...can't wait for the invites.

I'll reiterate that we give invites on a pace that is reasonable given how well our servers are scaling, performance of the site is keeping up, etc. We've added a lot of users in the last few days and are holding back a bit on the invites while we watch how things grow. More invites will be forthcoming soon... we want to give you invites as quickly as we can!
i love vox so far.... i would just try to better adjust the posting from sidekicks... every time that i add posts from mine the paragraph breaks are thrown way off.... and when i posted from my treo it was not the same effect

yeah I started out with 0 invites too. Which I thought was nutty. How are you supposed to invite people when they don't even give you any to start with??
I still haven't gotten any invites and my account was created 2 weeks ago? Others I know who created after me have gotten them, is there a reason why some accounts are being overlooked?
Hopeless... let me look into it. You should have gotten some by now.
