Ask Team Vox

Comments

How do we get to older pictures in our Photobucket accounts? Vox only allows me to look at the most recently added photos, and I would love to use some of my older photos.

Love the product, thanks for developing. But how to add HTML code, to an entry or even better to a column?

Q: Are threaded comments something Vox may be implementing in the future?

is it possible to link the photo uploading from imageshack.us too???

Q: Whenever I think of elephants, I sneeze. What's up with that?! :[

Is anyone allowed to make and contribute layouts for the site? Is there anywhere we can make suggestions on layouts? I'd love to see a few other images, like characters, or a cute (one could be girly, the other could be more for guys) skull and crossbone layout, or some other things.
Can you make a military themed layout? You do have soldiers on this site!

Q: How will we know when you answer the question when there isn't a reply to comment option?

Q: What does the <b>[this is good]</b> dialog box do?

Could we get a way to add links to other sites as an asset? I have many I would like to put in my collections?

g

Q. What the heck is a Vox? I know it's the name of this site, but what exactly is one? :D

Will we be able to add images from our own personal hosting in the future?

Q - Possibly that we the bloggers could actual change our backgrounds to something of our making/creation instead of various designs created for Vox?

I agree with papRheart, I would love to be able to make my own layouts or layouts to share. I would also love to be able to directly comment to people's comments.

Mena Trott wrote: "Integration with other services (especially LJ) is definitely on the feature roadmap."

Q. Does that mean that LJ's Scrapbook will be integrated as well?

Responding to Brooks Williams: Vox is Latin for voice.

Can you please create a Vox theme based on this beautiful MySpace page?

From the Knowledge Base: Bandwidth and storage information for an account. Currently, our limits are undefined and we won't be monitoring them until those are set.

Q: Will there be a premium service to upgrade this option if limits are defined?

Why won't vox give me any more invites ?

Cat

Do you guys like muffins or cupcakes better?

Oh and yes! Will livjournal be intergrated with Vox? I love vox more than LJ and I have tons of scrapbook images I would love to shove over here rather than try to move each image one by one.

Threaded/direct commenting would be muchly appreciated.

Also, maybe some sort of widget/plug-in module type of thing (?) for sites like LastFM would be cool.

I noticed Blogger just did a little "upgrade", ha ha. They are getting blown away for real now.

I'd also like some chili-cheese fries, if possible. Thanks.

Is there a way to add images for audio that was uploaded from my computer or albums and books that aren't available on Amazon?
[this is good]
Q: Would Vox add a hit-counter to the blogs so we can gauge how popular we are?

God knows it late... i cant think of a bleeding thing.... are you always this demanding?.... :-)

I have a couple of questions. I'm greedy.

1) How many people are currently using Vox?

2) I wrote an email yesterday about audio files I'm trying to upload that have been "processing" for over 48 hours now. Is this normal, or am I being impatient?

3) Could we possibly have a link in our profiles that allows us to pimp our own websites?

4) Do you like laundry lists that end on even numbers or odd numbers?

Can you please just make Vox *exactly like* Livejournal, with the same comments features, same background capabilities, same html options, etc. but be different, unique and appeal to the older crowd?? That'd be perfect :) Thanks.
[this is good]

imkwazy: I hope you're being sarcastic, or else I'm going to track you down and slap you. No offense. I think you're being sarcastic, but this is the internet. You never know...

And now to be relevant! Q: Is the anonymous comment feature anywhere on the roadmap? :) That's the only thing I'm really hurting for right now, but I can definitely understand why the feature hasn't appeared yet (what with Vox still being in "beta" and having a closed membership). It's really the only thing I'm curious about. Threaded comments would be okay, but outside of LJ, what other blogging service allows threaded comments? None that I can think of, so it's not bothering me.

Q. Any plans to release t-shirts that say "Vox is the awesomest!" or perhaps "I drank the Vox-aid?"

pengie: i'm guessing the reason you want anon comments is for people not using vox to be able to comment on your blog (good reason), but i find that feature to be an excuse for immature people to act .. well, immature. i really wouldn't like to see this feature implemented unless we had the option of turning it off.

Q: Is it possible to get the QOTD/VOX HUNT thingymajigger as a sidebar option so we don't have to go to the home page all the time?

Q:Why does my curser jump back to the beginning of the line after typing only 3 or 4 letters? Is this a browswer issue or VOX issue? [I use Opera browser].

Q: Can someone treat me to dinner? I'm starving.
[this is good]
I wish I knew how much uploading space I had left... will we be able to keep track of that in the future?
Q: Will there be a cut-tag/cut-feature available in the future like on lj?
can vox remain invite only? or, something like, you have to pass a test just to become a member? (kidding) I just have a feeling when it becomes open to the "public" its going to turn into LJ. and me and LJ are getting along too hot these days...
Q: Is there a way to add QOTD/Vox Hunt as part of the neighborhood so I can see them on that page instead of having to go to the home page?
Q: Is a client similar to those available for LJ (semagic, for one example) going to be available in the future?

Q: If not, will there be a non-WYSIWYG editor coming up? Occasionally, it can get pretty buggy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I would be most interested in seeing something like a hit counter, or a place to put statcounter code so we can see who's reading.

Also, how about allowing us to edit the html in posts, so we can embed the YouTube videos directly, for example. Sometimes I have a hard time finding the video I want when trying to add it through Vox. It''s great that you don't have to know html here, but sometimes it's just easier if you do.

Yeah, that was sarcasm...

Although, it seems like having vox just like lj is what everyone wants or expects. If all those features are what you want, then why not go get an eljay!?!

Silly people.

imkwazy: Good to know I don't have to hit you, lol. And I definitely agree: if you want LJ, go to LJ and leave those of us happy with Vox alone. People are pretty rediculous sometimes.

As for the threaded comments, I also agree that the option to disable them should be present. I could see it causing some change in the privacy settings--i.e. "Who can comment on this post?" "Anyone" might end up meaning "Vox users and anonymous comments" instead of "any Vox user." Or allowing anonymous comments could be simply selected on a post-by-post basis.

I thought I had another question, but now I can't remember it. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be asked.

[this is good]
Is there any way I could share some graphics for themes here on Vox?

I was one of the winners in the coloring contest, and I would love to be able to help out on the site somehow.
please, PLEASE add a reply to comment function!?

also, being able to design our own layout themes and the ability to use html in our profile page would be nice.
I wanted to know if you will be allowing us to personally customize our layouts like on LiveJournal anytime soon? It drives me nuts that there isn't any way to personally customize.
is there a way to reply to a comment that somebody left at your blog entry? if there isn't there should be, or else why is is called a "neighbourhood"?
I hate to sound like a broken record here, but, is there any chance you'll add threaded comments? That would totally complete the system here. :)
Is there a way to filter the qotd and vox hunt tags out of the "explore" page? I like to see them, sometimes, but sometimes the ratio of those to actual posts is something like 15:1.

Also, I guess because of the block quote at the beginning, you don't get to see anything more than the question on that page. It would be better if you could actually see the beginning of someone's answer so you could figure out if it's something worth reading or not.
Sometimes I wish I could post a previous qotd. Is there a place to access former qotd's?
I'm wondering if in the future Vox will be added to the "blog this" feature on Flickr like Typepad, LJ, and Moveabletype already are. I know Flickr is already integrated somewhat with Vox, which is nice, but it really isn't easy to find the pictures you are looking for through a search box - especially if you have a lot of pictures.

Other than that, and wanting to be able to add a little html of my own like most others seem to do, I absolutely love Vox. You've all done a great job, once again. Thanks to all those at Six Apart!
Even if I change the "country" setting to "show only to friends and family" it still shows up. (I tested it with a non-Vox friend) Would this be a bug?
[this is good]

I have been a paid member of live journal for almost 5 years now. I was wondering if we will ever be able to transfer our things from there to here. I love the VOX Journal but hate to leave all those years behind over at live journal. Any ideas??

I like it when you guys suggest things for me to post. I also like it when you ask for feedback and invite silly questions.

Is Vox going to remain invite-only? Will it introduce paid accounts? Why does the editor add extra space between paragraphs, and more importantly, why does it do so inconsistently? Are we likely to see other typographical widgets available (think drop caps)? Will you please let us type in our own URL for image links and so forth (perhaps with an "HTML on/off" button so that <this> wouldn't disappear in an HTML-less entry)? Who are the actual humans that post as Team Vox, and what are their jobs (besides doing so)? When did Vox go live? When will it leave beta? (I understand that last is probably less a date than a list of criteria.)

I've seen a few references to the idea that Vox is intended to be positive and friendly, as opposed to the--let's face it, fairly well justified--whiny emo kid reputation of Livejournal. Is this a conscious effort? If so, how are you going about it? (My two cents, if they're even worth that much, is that it's a noble cause but I can't imagine how to accomplish it. I mean, this IS the internet. It's not known for the maturity of its average participant.)

Last, but not least, a question for each of you individually: Creme brulee, eclair[e?], or flan?

Thanks!
Are there plans to allow uploading of content other than photos, audio and video? The ability to define neighbourhoods is an excellent way to encourage collaboration on issues of common interest. Compared to the 'invited author' facility of TypePad, it allows each person to get a sense of ownership over their material, while still being part of the community. It would be great to be able to share PDFs, documents and presentations.
Thanks, Norbert
Expanding on Vox as a collaboration tool, has any thought been given to supporting user-defined neighbourhoods? I know I could use filtering on tags, but being able to define topic-related communities would help maintain greater focus. I can see where supporting an arbitrary number of communities might be difficult (from a platform perspective) - could Vox support a limited set of 'blank' privacy entries that users with a defined community would fill in?
Thanks, Norbert
I would like top know if there is any way to design my own theme for my blog pages.
I have seen themes around that aren't on the customize page.
Is there any way I can 'build my own' page? That would be neat
[this is good]
Can we just be glad this isn't like myspace?

Please. (I don't want to see a million "pimped" pages. This community should take a different approach.)
[this is good]
I agree with Tank..But q:Will we be able to put Buttons like Get Firefox or Help the EFF vs ATT buttonsl ike that but only like that, and can we be able to put Digg code on here?

And another question: Q:Will I be able to transfer my Blog psots from my Blogger and have my vox alos be my blogger or not?
Why on earth did you replace the perfectly usable textbox editing on replies with a variant of the same braindamaged editor that composing uses?

Can we get threaded comments to posts?
Q: Will you guys ever consider adding the feature where we could add our own videos from you tube. Currently when you upload from the back end, through youtube.com, you are limited to only a certain number of videos that display when you enter a tag to search. I'd love to be able to find and upload my own videos to share with my readers. That would be cool.
Q: You watch us when we are sleeping don't you?
ana, a way around that would be to tag your video with something that's just bizarre that no one else would have tagged any video with, for example:
thisisavideolalalanowicanfinditonvox
then you can search for that from the insert video box, and your vid will be the only one to pop up. Not the best solution though, I suppose.

I quite enjoy vox thus far, and can't think of any questions I have, offhand.
o wait i lied!

"The Japanese version of Vox will have the same basic features and fun as Vox
US and we are also planning to add new features for the Japanese audience."

I'm just curious what the new features for the Japanese audience would be. My Japanese is a bit crap, but I'd take part in the Japanese language beta if there were some features relevant to my life in Japan. Stuff like mixi integration, or something bizarre like that. I'm just curious, I'm not gonna turn into one of those "HAY THEY GET BETTER STUFF, WE WANT THAT BLEEH" people. I understand what you're meaning to do, and it's a good idea.
I have to say it is somewhat discouraging when leaving a comment in this entry. There are tons of pieces of feedback, and it spams the Recent Comments section on the home page.

Is there any way to change this?
Someone may have asked this already, but did you see the Shout-Out to you in the new issue of Rolling Stone? Nice work...
Q: Will there ever be a way of getting rid of the adverts? Like the LJ option to pay.
Will there be voice posting integration on Vox? I am currently starting my voice posting series, and I'd be curious to know if there will be more options in the future.

Q: I'm a grafic designer and wondered wether I would be able to submit theme designs.
Hey everybody! I have three requests/comments.

1. The ability to write HTML in our entries and user profile. I really love the Vox rich text editor, but could we have a "view source" thing so that we could add our own HTML? I don't need a full-blown plain text editor; Vox is too cool for that. =)

2. Threadable comments, please.

3. Instead of making Vox layouts 100% customizable (and thus, Vox turning into Livejournal), how about you have a moderated Layout Submission section? All average Vox users can have an opporotunity to submit a layout template design, and the Vox moderators pick the best to make available on the site. That's something that could make Vox very unique.

I'd like to be able to upload audio files to Vox that are already on the web, as opposed to my HD (or at least be able to point to them). Will we ever see a function like this?

At any time soon could you please put a button on the question and picture of the day that will allow people to go back at least a week to see what was asked? I know it may defeat the purpose of being a daily thing, but some of us to not get online every day. :)
Any chance of seeing the Amazon integration extended to non-US versions of the store?
Oooh, I second Adam's suggestion. Anybody who's reading in a language other than English would find that pretty handy!
What XML-RPC is used so that we can add posts from places like Digg to our vox blog?
I'd like to be able to preview/edit comments & preview posts.

Q: I use W.bloggar and Qumana to post blogs at Wordpress and blogger. I'd love to beable to use that software to be able to post here at Vox too. When will this be availble?

Sincerly

!. I love vox! greatest site everr...
2. I am in love with the color pink, and i know you guys already have pink layouts.. but maybe more varieties of pink layouts could be goood also ;)
3. it be nice if we can use some html in our entries like-> &hearts;
4. I love the privacy options you guys added thanks!
5. you know what would be awesome if you guys integrated a lastfm.com thing so people can see what we are listening to! <3
thanks!
-Melanie
one more thing...
it be cool if vox had mood and music options like livejournal with smileys :)
i want to make sure to get all of my comments in my inbox, but some of them dont come though, why is that?

Will there be comment notifications in the future? And...will users be able to create their own themes?

Will there be a way to block our journals from search engines?
Would it be possible to change the default font for a layout style? I tend to prefer Verdana over Helvetica for on-screen reading…

Thanks!
Are there plans to add APIs for Vox for developers? For instance, APIs for archiving posts and other media, posting to Vox, etc. That would allow people to develop desktop posting clients.
when can we get the option to add links to other websites/blogs on our site?
is there a way to display recent comments i've made on others' blogs?
Q - Will Vox has blogger groups, where like-minded individuals can share a blog composed of them?
Amy
Q: How do you submit an idea for QOTD?
when using the "organize" tab to edit posts, when you roll over a post to select it there's a view of the text of the post shown but if the post content is too long, the 2 links at the bottom aren't available since they're off the screen.
Will we ever be able to submit posts into collections? I'd like to make collections for music, book, and movie reviews.
