Ask Team Vox: Adding Album Covers To Audio

Great information. I just took advantage of Vox... YESTERDAY! The audio option is very nice. I was wondering if streaming will be available as well. I have a podcast site and would love to stream my radio shows eventually with this blog. Anyhow, I love what you are doing and thanks for the tip. *off to adding thumbnails to my blog*

Interesting ... but doesn't really answer the question at all. I don't upload audio files, I just use the Amazon search. A few of the albums on my list don't contain art from Amazon. It would be nice if I could replace the default "no image available" icon with something else. I can always find said album art elsewhere on the net, even if Amazon doesn't have it in their archives.
Just to throw out another app for putting album images on audio files, I use the aptly named Album Art Downloader. It's nice in that you can search for images (it can scrape the ID3/ID2 tags off the file if you're feeling lazy) and apply them with the same app.

I'll second Dog's reccomendation. Having an option for "change album art" on the album selection or in the edit details would help if you uploaded an album without an image and want to add one later without having to remove and re-add the album.
THIS FIXES NOTHING, IT CANT POSSIBLY BE THAT HARD TO MODIFY THE SCRIPT TO ALLOW USERS TO UPLOAD AN IMAGE
I agree with these other folks. The feature is super neat, but doesn't really address the problem. Can you please just answer the question instead of trying to be a politician?
He did answer the question. Re-read the 2nd and 3rd bullets. I thought it read how to add an image of your own as opposed to an album cover that reflects the song title. I don't see a problem and I certainly don't think rude comments are warranted.
Actually, no, in fact, he did not. The original question talks about "audio that was uploaded from my computer." That means the audio is already in Vox. His answer is very informative on how to add images to music before upload, but not after. Say you've uploaded audio and then add that audio to a post or a collection. If the image is not already in the mp3 metadata before upload, you'd have to delete that audio from your repository, re-upload, and re-apply to the post and collection. That is entirely too much work just to add some image info to an audio object. It's not hard functionality to support. I figure it's just low on the list, and that's fine. But I have noticed a trend that Vox Team members don't really answer tough questions. The questions are either ignored, or answered in a positive-spin way that doesn't really help. A simple, "sorry, we don't support that right now" would be fine and much more appreciated. As for rudeness, if you are referring to my comment (and maybe you aren't), I may have been a bit snide, but was feeling overly frustrated at the time. So officially:

Sorry Team Vox!
I'll addd my vote for a feature request: will it be possible to add art to an audio asset after you've uploaded? I would like that very much.
Thanks for the clarification andrewj
oops... and I hope an answer will be forthcoming soon. ;)

Pass this around!

Yeah, this is good advice, but when I upload AAC files, the album art doesn't show up, even if I embed it in the song before I upload.

A way to add album art after uploading would be appreciated.
I find tagging all my music to be hard enough without adding the tags for the album covers. So if there is a simpler way to get it done it would be really hepful!!

Thanks..
I'm interested in this also. When I upload audio from my work computer the album covers show up, but if I upload from my home computer no album cover shows up. Both machines are using the same audio player (iTunes) and both music collections are tagged with artwork in the same manner. It would be easier fro me to just assign artwork to the audio file instead of deleting the track and then uploading it again from work.
Adding artwork with iTunes and then uploading does not appear to work. Maybe iTunes uses nonstandard id3 tagging or just doesn't actually set the cover tag... Time to use a perl module to do it for me, and see if that's any less painful. :)
