A Challenge for Vox Members
Beginning this Monday, October 1st, Vox members have the opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of public school kids by participating in a Blogger Challenge through DonorsChoose.org. Donors Choose is a not-for-profit organization with a great platform that lets you "shop" for the classroom projects that excite you, then easily donate to them. All of the projects are submitted by public school teachers and are designed to fulfill student needs, while bringing learning to life. You can help improve students' creative writing skills and spelling with journals and pencils ($441) and a set of dictionaries ($150), or provide musical instruments to an inner-city school that lost its music program funding. You can even help students travel to Washington, D.C. to witness the Supreme Court in session($2000).
We think the Blogger Challenge is a wonderful way for you to harness your power as a blogger, to reach people with similar interests, and to make a difference in the lives of students and teachers around the U.S. We're so excited about this challenge that we're distributing philanthropic gift certificates you can use to help fund the classroom project of your choice. You can request a gift certificate worth $30 at donorschoose@sixapart.com. Request yours now - they're only available until 5 p.m. PT on Monday, October 1, 2007. (Please allow a day or two to for your electronic gift certificate code to arrive via e-mail.)
Using the gift certificate will help you understand how the program works and we hope that your experience picking a classroom project will inspire you to participate in the DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge during the month of October. The challenge begins on October 1st!
Six Apart is also sponsoring an award for the bloggers who help the greatest number of students. Keep an eye out for more news about this on Monday.
Which classroom project will you support? We can't wait to find out.

So, does this mean that it's ok to ask for donations here @ Vox?
-I'm a broke, but decent songwriter who might be willing to contribute an original song to a worthy cause...
-But, of course... I need to live too ya know...
